Orwell Vermont sits on the western border of Central Vermont, just across from New York, and just east of RT 22A. The southern section of Lake Champlain runs to the west of the town, offering residents the opportunity to boat, paddle, and swim the Lake’s waters. The town is largely agricultural in nature, with an abundance of dairy farms, sheep farms, and horse farms dotting the landscape. Orwell is also the location of Mount Independence, the biggest Revolutionary War fortress built by Americans. To get to Vermont’s best ski resorts, one has only to drive an hour or less from Orwell Vermont real estate. This includes Killington Resort and Pico Ski Resort.
