Chittenden Vermont is the largest town by area in the state. Named after Thomas Chittenden of the Green Mountain Boys (and also the governor of Vermont), the town is bisected by a length of the Green Mountains, and much of the land is covered in forest, providing ample hiking and other outdoor activities to its residents and visitors. The Mountain Top Inn and Resort in Chittenden offers year-round fun, with lake activities, horseback riding, and extensive Nordic skiing and snowshoeing opportunities. Popular Vermont ski resorts are just an hour drive from Chittenden Vermont real estate, including Okemo Mountain Resort, Pico Ski Resort, Killington Resort, Magic Mountain Ski Resort, Stratton Mountain Ski Resort, and Suicide Six Ski Area.
